Characteristics of sand and gravel aggregates for highways

In the construction of highways, high requirements are placed on the particle shape and grading of concrete sand and gravel aggregates, especially the needle like content in crushed stones. In order to meet the requirements of particle size and grading, particle shape, consistency of particle composition, cleanliness, and 0.075mm particle content, a new sand making machine has been added to the production line configuration, which better meets the requirements of highway cement, asphalt, and other sand and gravel aggregates.

The sand and gravel aggregate production line for highways is divided into three stages: coarse crushing, medium fine crushing, and sand shaping.

Phase 1: Coarse crushing

The large stones are uniformly fed by a vibrating feeder through the material bin and transported to a jaw crusher for coarse crushing. The coarse crushed materials are screened by a vibrating screen and then transported by a belt conveyor to a cone crusher (hard rock) or a impact crusher (medium hard and soft rock) for medium to fine crushing.

Phase 2: Medium to fine crushing

The stone conveyed to the cone crusher or impact crusher is finely crushed and screened using a circular vibrating screen. Materials larger than or equal to 40mm are returned to the cone crusher or impact crusher for further crushing.

Phase 3: Sand making

Send crushed stone particles smaller than 40mm into the sand making machine for further crushing and shaping, and materials larger than or equal to 20mm are returned to the sand making machine for further fine crushing. Materials smaller than 20mm are sent to a circular vibrating screen for screening and packaging. If clean sand and gravel aggregates are needed, they can be sent to a sand washing machine for cleaning.
